Instructions  Patient Preparation:
• Patient should follow physician instructions regarding fasting.
• Some medications may affect blood glucose (eg, steroids, antihypertensive medications [thiazides], and diabetes medications [metformin]). Patient should follow physician instructions if any need to be discontinued prior to test.
• Patient may drink water during test.
• Patient should refrain from chewing gum, drinking coffee, and smoking just before and during test.

Performance of Test:
• Give patient  75 grams of Glucola drink.
• Patient should remain at rest during test and report any nausea, vomiting, heavy sweats, or dizziness to nurse or laboratory staff.
• Draw blood specimen at 2-hour post Glucola ingestion.

Label specimen with Mobilab label or with patient name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of collection, collector initials, and test(s) being ordered.
Reference Range An interpretive report will be provided.
