Instructions | Collect Both EDTA Lavender and Clot Activator SST. It is preferred that the EDTA specimen be separated into plasma and frozen if testing is not going to be performed within 8 hours of collection of the specimen. EDTA Plasma Stability is Ambient 8 hours, Refrigerated 2 days, Frozen 6 months. Serum or Heparin Plasma Stability is Ambient 7 days, Refrigerated 3 weeks, Frozen 8 months. If submitting aliquot tubes, please mark each aliquot tube correctly with EDTA Plasma or Serum. Serum for calcium can be used from serum collected with other general chemistry tests. Heparin Plasma is also acceptable for calcium. |
