Specimen:  Random or 24 hour urine specimen. 
Preferred container:  Non-preservative container
Alternative container:  UA Preservative tube
Boric Acid (grey top) is not acceptable.
Note:   Label specimen with patient name (first and last) or other unique identifier, patieant hospital identification number or Social Security number, date and time of collection, collector's initials, and test(s) being ordered.

Rejection due to:
  • Extremely  turbid samples
  • Urine samples submitted in Boric Acid tubes

Stability:
Urine samples may be stored at 2-8 °C for up to 1 month
Urine samples may be stored at -20 °C for up to 6 months
