Specimen Type: Royal blue-top (EDTA) tube OR royal blue-top without EDTA
Specimen Storage: Maintain specimen at room temperature.
Specimen Collection: Separate serum from cells within 45 minutes of collection and transfer to a certified metal-free transport tube (PeopleSoft No. 111166) for shipment to the laboratory. Plasma may be separated immediately and transferred to a certified metal-free plastic transport tube (PeopleSoft No. 111166 for shipment to the laboratory.
Specimen Stability: Ambient: 14 days, Refrigerated : 14 days, Frozen: 14 days
GENERAL INFORMATION
Expected TAT 2 - 4 days within one working day.  
Clinical Use Serum or plasma measurements are best for assessment of deficiency over short periods of time. For acute toxicity, zinc in urine may be a more reliable indicator of exposure.
