Clinical Use | Multiple Myeloma (MM) is characterized by the proliferation of malignant monoclonal plasma cells in the bone marrow. In most cases, there is low proliferation index of terminally different malignant plasma cells. As a result, conventional cytogenetic analysis frequently yields normal results. The most frequent abnormalities with prognostic association have been included in this panel: [TP53 deletion, 1p deletion, 1q gain, t(4;14); IGH::FGFR3 fusion, t(14;16);IGH::MAF fusion, t(14;20);IGH::MAFB, t(11;14)IGH::CCND1, and t(14;20);IGH::MAFB]. Interphase FISH studies can enhance the detection rate and complement conventional cytogenetic techniques. |
