| Instructions | Collect specimen using Vaginal Wet Prep Kit as follows: 1. Swab mucosa high in vaginal canal. 2. Rotate swab to collect secretions. 3. Place swab into 1 mL of saline for Inpatients*. 4. Label tube with patient name (first and last) or other unique identifier, patient hospital identification number or Social Security number, date and time of collection, collector initials, and test(s) being ordered. 5. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature. Note: A. For the detection of Trichomonas specimen is stable for 1 hour, for clue cells or yeast specimen is stable for 4 hours. B. Specimen source is required on request form for processing. * A Vaginosis Panel collected in BD Affirm VPIII Transport is recommended for Outpatients (stable for 72 hours at ambient temperature). |
