Instructions Draw blood in a lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube(s), avoiding hemolysis. Send immediately to laboratory for testing.

Alternative container(s): 
Plasma collected in a lavender-top (K2 EDTA) tube(s), frozen.  Serum collected in gold gel or plain red tube, frozen.

Label specimen with patient name (first and last) or other unique identifier, patient hospital identification number or Social Security number, date and time of draw, collector initials, and test(s) being ordered.

Note:  Intraoperative PTH should be drawn in Operating Room or Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
